A list of synonyms of overused words (J thru Z) is found below. It's a a good list including many words that are sometimes used too often.

In fact, overused words can be problematic for a variety, or number, of reasons.

By using the list of synonyms below, you'll be improving your English language skills lots. Now, let's take a look at the last word of the previous sentence, lots.

Lots is one of those words that tends to be overused. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the word lots, it's just that we don't want to overuse it. So, let's look in the list below to see what other words could be used in the sentence above as opposed to using the word 'lots.'

How about scores? Or maybe heaps?

Why not?

Score and heaps are perfectly good words which mean 'lots' so the sentence above would be saying the same thing just using a word that isn't used so often that it becomes overused which makes it, in effect, less meaningful.

Look over the list of synonyms below to find words that you overuse and replace them with one or more of the synonyms from the list.
